Join us on this exciting journey as we remove the hideous, disfigured linoleum of old and replace it with vinyl perfection which words cannot adequately describe!

1. According to the Internet, removing sheet linoleum is easy-peasy. We prepared for this step by a) removing all furniture and the refrigerator from the kitchen, and b) making sure the TV was turned to the Utes vs. 'Bama game. (Hey, we may be renovating superstars but we're ALSO loyal to our friends- In honor of James, go Utah!) ...But back to business. We gingerly grasped at the edges of the linoleum and puuuuuulled.
2. Suddenly, a horrid discovery. See, nothing in Renovation Land is easy. We've had some nightmarish encounters with drywall and wallpaper to date. The floor would not be left out of the fun- when we pulled up the first layer of linoleum, a 2nd layer started coming with it... and then a 3rd. And the black stuff? Oh, you know... that's the TAR the original builders decided to use as GLUE.
3. That's okay- We Ross's are resilient folk. We wiled away the labor with frequent sweet tea breaks (thanks, Grandma Lou!) and trips out to the living room to watch the stunning progress of the Ute game. Of course, I had to photographically document the toll this tar-demolition business was having on my hands: Look at my poor cuticles! And my dirtied fingernails! And the microscopic gash!!! We made light of these hardships with lines like, "At least we're not pioneers," and "If we were all weiner dogs, our problems would be solved."
4. The next day, all the linoleum stripping was behind us and we could move into the blissful territory of laying the vinyl tiles down (self-adhesive! How spiffy is that?! Thanks for the idea, Laney friends!) Gabriel -as always- figured this home improvement project could double as an amusement park ride. Snoop stopped by too, to let us know whether it passed canine napping specifications.

Great job! You have such a good attitude about it. If that happened to me, I'd probably cry the whole night and then call the pros out to take care of it.
I have always been intimidated by floor projects but if you can do it....oh wait, nope- I still just can't do it.
haha! "at least we're not pioneers?" you guys are hilarious.
