Ben took me to see Fireproof last night- we both LOVED it! It was produced by Sherwood Pictures, whom you may have heard of after they released the astonishingly successful, Christian-based movie Facing The Giants in 2006 (they made it on a $100,000 budget and eventually grossed over $10,000,000- wowsers!)

As you may guess from the movie poster, Fireproof is about marriage; specifically, a failing one. I don't want to give away the plot, but there was so much to love about it! ...Realistic portrayals of conversion to the faith, broken trust, renewed love, and some hilarious scenes that literally had the whole theater laughing out loud. It was also cute because it was shot in and around Albany, Georgia, so in a way it was sort of a "local" film (look for shout-outs to sweet tea and a fabulous little restaurant called Chick-Fil-A.)

When Ben and I were walking out to the car, we had smiles on our faces and our hearts hurt. We consider our marriage to be a pretty good one, but this is one of those movies that definitely make you evaluate how you could be a better spouse, whether you're headed for divorce or thriving. Lastly, my favorite aspect of the movie is that while it gave me some great brain food concerning marriage, it pointed me to the One whose love I strive to model my own after-

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:8
